May 12 , 2011 Meeting report
The Pacific Northwest Section held it’s first vendor’s night in more than 6 years at the Renton Technical College on May 12, 2011. Seventy-three individuals and speakers were present to listen presentations on emerging NDT technologies. Betsy Blazer of ASNT headquarters gave a rousing keynote address of the past, present and future of local sections and national happenings. Followed by speakers from NDT Solutions, Inc. (NDTS) on the use of the MAUS and UAV technologies, Laser Technology, Inc (LTI) on the use of Laser Shearography, Carestream NDT, Inc. (formerly Kodak) on the benefits of using Statistics in Computed Radiography (CR), VM Products, Inc. on Eddy current for crack detection, and New Gate Technologies, Inc. on Automated Technologies for NDT. The presenters joined other exhibitors from GE Technologies, Mayes Testing Engineers, Mistras Group, Inc., Olympus, ASTM group E07, MEI Charlton Inc, L&W Research, Inc., Bruker, Uniwest Inc., Chemetall Aerospace Technologies. Representatives from all aspects of inspection and construction were present. Boeing and AWS were well represented too. ASNT members from the Lewis & Clark section were also present. Walter Pendergrapt was the winner of NDT Solutions drawing for a 32” LCD TV. A buffet dinner of Classic Caesar Salad, Garlic Bread sticks, Vegetable Tray with Creamy Herb Dip, Fresh Fruit Tray, Chef Prepared Medallions, Chicken Fettuccini in a Garlic Cream Sauce, Penne Pasta in Marinara sauce, Chocolate Mousse and Lemon Bars was provided to all with soft drinks, tea and coffee.
A drawing from the attendees who sign the guest book at each meeting was held. Roy Goodall was the lucky winner who attended 3 meetings this year. The more meetings attended the better your chances at winning. Roy was also the winning name drawn last year.
